Calling out to my community: Can you help me learn more about you?

Updated: May 30, 2023

Do you identify as a woman or non-binary person in tech? Or are you someone who leads or supports women and non-binary people in tech? If so, I would appreciate your input as I develop my business, Sarah-Beth Bianchi Coaching.

Learning about the community I want to serve

I’ve created a Survey to help validate some of the assumptions I’ve made during the planning phase for my business. I’d like to understand more about the community I’m focused on serving - who are they, what are their needs, their expectations, and their relationship with coaching? How do they perceive the services I’ve outlined, and what might need adjustment so that my services are appealing and accessible? The survey is designed to take about 30 minutes to complete.

I’m also interested in having some one-on-one conversations with folks who can tell me more about their career path, how they engage in their personal and professional development, and where they see gaps in services to meet their needs. I’ll be conducting 30-minute informational interviews during June and July for this purpose. Folks who complete the initial survey will have the option to opt-in to participate in an interview.

What’s in it for you?

I value the time you’re investing in this exercise. I don’t take for granted that you’re using your experience and your insight to answer questions that are helping me clarify the purpose and approach for my coaching practice. With this in mind, I am offering to exchange my services for your input by providing a free 30-minute coaching session to survey respondents and a second session for interview participants. Coaching will take place from June through November. Don’t be shy about taking me up on this offer. I benefit from continuing to gain coaching experience as I build my practice. And I want you to benefit from time spent focusing on the topic you bring into a session, and the outcomes we create through that work together.

I also want to be very clear about the boundaries between this information gathering exercise and my marketing and sales process. While I am hopeful that this exercise will help introduce my practice to the community, I am not building a mailing list or engaging in sales conversations during this process. Any contact information I gather will be used only for the purpose of this research. (If you do want to be added to my mailing list for future notice, you can sign up using the form at the bottom of my website.) I hope that by creating clear boundaries, you can feel comfortable to engage with this exercise without having to wonder whether there’s a pitch coming at the end.

Goals and timelines

I’ll be gathering survey responses for several weeks. I won’t review the data until I reach 20 completed surveys, so that I can avoid connecting survey information to the names of folks who responded. My hope is to receive feedback from 50 people.

So if you’re on board, please jump in to the Survey. Thank you in advance for your input!

If you know of folks who could provide helpful feedback and would enjoy the opportunity to engage in the free coaching sessions in exchange, please pass along the link to this blog post. Thank you in advance for helping make this information-gathering exercise successful!
