Hi. I'm Sarah-Beth and I'm a coach.
I help busy, mid-career professionals make clear and confident decisions about their career and personal life. My clients take away insights that help them feel less overwhelmed and more fulfilled.
I enjoy connecting with folks who are navigating the challenges and rewards of their careers, and figuring out how to make it work with all the parts of their life - family, friends, community, and self. I have experience coaching people in industries like finance, education, and customer service. My specialty is coaching women and non-binary people navigating their tech careers as developers, administrators, communicators, leaders, creatives and more.
People that I work with are typically in the midst of change. The changes you experience can be internally driven or brought on by life events - a new role, a layoff, a new or growing child, aging or ill loved ones. (The list can go on and on!) Or maybe you feel stuck, or like you don’t have control over certain areas of your life. I'd like to help. Exploring your thoughts and goals through coaching can help you be intentional about the next steps you take. Coaching can be a calm place during a storm of change. And it can be the place where you get to experiment and test your ideas as you gain insights and create tools to help you navigate change.

Curious?
Are you curious about how coaching might benefit you? Or wondering whether we’re the right fit to work together? Book a discovery call to find out. Ask questions, share your concerns or barriers, and then we can determine how we want to move forward. My goal is to share information about what I offer so that you can determine if it’s the right fit for you.
My path to coaching
I decided to pursue coaching after more than 15 years working in tech in Waterloo Region. I moved to the area while attending the University of Waterloo in the Co-op Program. I took my English Rhetoric B.A. to local tech companies and used my creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills to build bridges between technology and its users. Technical writing, software administration, training, community management, product management, IT leadership… In every role I was helping people connect their underlying need to a practical application through software, hardware, and (just enough) process. In 2022 I was at a crossroads in my career, and realized that my next step needed to include using creativity, empathy, and communication to make a difference for people in my community. In July 2023 I completed the Professional Goal-centric Certified Coach program at Concordia University, a program accredited by the International Coaching Federation. I made the experience even more of an immersive adventure by moving to Montréal with my husband and two young kids for the year of my training. I'm proud and excited to share all of my learning through my coaching practice.

Craft the life and career that works for you
Step 1: Take inventory
Reflect on the journey so far. Map out the life events and relationships that have shaped your career and personal life. By starting with this inventory, you uncover underlying influences for how you think and act: values, strengths, assumptions, and pressures. You identify what truly matters to you and learn to leave behind whatever doesn’t fit anymore - giving you clarity to make decisions that make sense for you. Acknowledging where you’ve come from and what motivates you are the foundation for moving forward.
Step 2: Map your path
Take an uncensored approach and explore all the options - including things that may seem too far-fetched to consider. Spending a bit of time dreaming big offers hope, and shows you that the status quo doesn’t have to be the only path forward. Through this step, you build confidence and set yourself up to work towards goals that previously seemed out of reach. Options are power when it comes to crafting your life and career.
Step 3: Forge ahead
Lasting change happens through a series of intentional steps. You’ll start addressing pain points in your daily life to start feeling the benefits of putting your new insights into action, and set the groundwork for longer term changes. You’ll use your priorities to guide choices about how you spend your time and energy, and how you cope with unexpected changes. By making intentional changes, you set in motion the career path and lifestyle that you choose.
Step 4: Reflect and adjust
Reflect on what you’re learning as you progress along a new path. Taking time to check in with yourself as you start to make changes allows you to notice what is going well, and build confidence about the choices you’re making. Being mindful allows you to uncover barriers or friction, and find ways to overcome them to prevent getting stuck. Setting aside time for ongoing reflection shores up your resources for a long and empowering journey ahead.

Partners in change: Support as you shift
Change doesn't have to happen alone. Whether you're searching for a new job, heading into a parental leave, or returning to work after a hiatus, you don't have to walk that path on your own.
The highs, lows, excitement and doubts are all part of the process, and having a partner to help you ride those waves can be the difference between thriving or stagnating.
Weekly coaching sessions allow you to set aside time to take care of yourself through change. Harness your energy and decide how to act on opportunities. Avoid getting stuck through regular accountability. Choose when to try a new approach if things aren't working as expected.
